Founder of Zorka’s Travel
It all started with a gorgeous, gleaming airplane. When I was little, my family moved from Bolivia to Miami for my father’s job with an airline. I would tag along on occasion when he went into the always-buzzing airport, and I fell in love with the world of flight right there and then. To me, there was something beautiful about airplanes—and all the possibilities they held. I could spend hours marveling up at the giant 747s, imagining all the millions of places around the globe they could take me.
Those trips to the airport were my first introduction to the travel industry—and I’ve been lucky enough to claim multiple careers in travel since then. I followed in my father’s footsteps by working in operations for a major airline, which allowed me to spend nearly every day in my favorite place in the world (yes, I’m talking about the airport!). I’ve also worked for some of the world’s leading luxury hotel brands and, most recently, managed programs supporting a government agency, where we constantly had colleagues flying off to far-flung destinations.
My 27+-year career in travel has given me an “inside look” at how the industry operates, and how to successfully wrangle the often complicated logistics of travel—now, I put that knowledge to work for you. Of course, I’ve used that “insider knowledge” on my own travels as well! From entertaining my two kids on trans-Atlantic flights to meeting the Dalai Lama at a remote village temple tucked high up in the mountains in Cambodia (ask me about how he made fun of my ears!), I’ve racked up quite the list of experiences—and I can’t wait to share all I’ve learned with you.
But for now, I’ll leave you with this: Whether it’s a hike through the jungle, a flight half-way across the world, or a climb up a castle turret, travel always enriches. It opens your eyes to new ways of seeing and being, and it leaves you with memories seared into your mind forever.
